The STEELMAN 1/2-Inch Drive 100 ft-lb Torque Extension is designed to prevent damage to wheels, studs, and brake rotors by reducing the risk of overtightening lug nuts, which can result in sheared stud bolts, rounded lug nuts, and warped rotors. This 8-inch extension bar, when used with an electric or pneumatic impact wrench, will limit the effective output of the wrench to 100 ft-lb of torque. Any further force will cause the extension to flex and absorb the extra impact rather than continuing to tighten. When no more force is applied, the torque stick will return to its original shape and be ready for the next lug nut. Because the extension has a predetermined maximum of allowed torque and no moving parts, there is no maintenance or calibration required. Both male and female ends are 1/2-inch drive and designed for use with heavy-duty impact wrenches and sockets. The extension is made of resilient chrome molybdenum (Chromoly) steel with a gray powder coat to differentiate it from other torque sticks with different torque determinations.
